“There is not much difference between the hero and the coward: they both feel the same fears and anxieties. The hero acts in spite of these fears and anxieties, whereas the coward turns away from action. The cultural hero seeks to break the chains of his or her culture’s particular illusions; the coward lives in denial.”
Sharon Gannon & David Life
There is so much suffering in the world because there is so much violence. This is an ingrained and systematic violence that most of society fails to acknowledge. In this day and age, most people’s main interaction with animals occurs 3 times a day, at breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Veganism is desperately needed now! Every vegan saves roughly 100 animals a year. Veganism is a radical practice because it recognizes that health does not come from eating animals but rather from taking care of others.
Yogis are the heroes of today, because they defy what culture tells them they must do to be happy. They choose instead to do what they believe is just. Is it fair to animals to eat them? To wear them? To use them as entertainment? To use them for scientific experimentation?
The yogi does not believe that true happiness could come from practices that exploit and promote suffering. Yogis understand karmic correlations and know that nothing good could ever come from hurting another. Therefore, they choose to live a vegan lifestyle, devoid of animal products.
